Hello everyone and welcome to my blog. Check here for photos of new work and upcoming events. I am excited to join cyber space and introduce my new jewels! Please feel free to post and leave feedback. Enjoy!
I am a jewelry designer and metalsmith in Minneapolis and Duluth of Minnesota. All my designs are handmade with fire and hammer. I love the relationship between the maker and the materials, where human hands manipulate and shape metal to become something very soft, delicate, but substantial. I graduated from the University of Minnesota-Duluth with a Bachelors in Art and concentrated in Jewelry and Metals. I have worked with metal the last six years and always strive to grow technically and conceptually. I create all my designs in my studio in the Northrup King Building, studio #435, in Northeast Minneapolis.
In my metal work I am very interested in texture. Nature provides a wonderful example of how different value, form, line, and texture combine to produce movement, rhythm, and harmony. Asymmetrical figures produce symmetrical forms as symmetrical patterns also breed asymmetrical themes. I am drawn to the contradiction of the hard, immovable, structural metal mimicking the most delicate and soft pieces of nature.
